Alkyl polyglycosides (APGs) belong to a series of esters of fatty alcohols and glucose oligomers. They are excellent secondary surfactants due to their optimal foaming properties and extreme delicacy on the skin, not to mention their capacity to reduce the harshness of alkyl sulfates. Their success is due in part to their plant origins, to the fact that they are obtained from renewable sources, and to their high biodegradability. The most common exponents are coco glucoside and lauryl glucoside.
